Paradise Beach is the most famous beach on Mykonos and one of the most famous party beaches in the world. It's a long stretch of golden sand on the south coast where DJs start playing in the early afternoon and the energy builds until it turns into an open-air club by evening. Tropicana Beach Bar is the main venue, the crowd is young and international, and the bus from town runs frequently. If you want the Mykonos party experience, this is ground zero.
In this guide
Paradise has been a party beach since the 1960s, when it was a hippie hangout. Over the decades it evolved from barefoot backpackers to sunbed empires and DJ booths, but the core identity remains: this is where Mykonos goes to party on the sand. If that sounds like your thing, it delivers. If it doesn't, there are 25 other beaches on the island.
How Do You Get There?
| Detail | Info |
|---|---|
| Distance from Mykonos Town | About 6 km |
| Bus from Fabrika station | Regular service, 20-25 minutes |
| Water taxi from Platis Gialos | Included in the 20 EUR day pass |
| Taxi | About 15 minutes from town |
| Parking | Available but limited in peak season |
The bus from Fabrika station is the easiest option. It runs frequently in summer and drops you right at the beach entrance. In July-August, late-night buses serve Paradise Beach for the evening crowd.
What's the Beach Like?

Paradise is a wide, long stretch of golden sand in a south-facing bay. The water is turquoise and clear, the bay is sheltered from the Meltemi wind, and the sand is fine and soft. As a beach -- ignoring the party -- it's genuinely good.
The Layout
The beach is divided into sections, each operated by a different beach club or bar:
- Tropicana Beach Bar -- The most famous. This is the epicentre of the party. DJs, a bar, sunbeds, and a dance floor that spills onto the sand. The party starts around 15:00-16:00 and builds.
- Other beach clubs -- Several operators along the beach offer sunbeds, food, and drinks at varying price points.
- Free section -- There is public sand between and around the clubs. You can lay your towel for free. The music is still audible (loudly), but you're not paying for the privilege.

What's the Party Like?

The daily rhythm at Paradise:
| Time | What's Happening |
|---|---|
| 09:00-12:00 | Beach is relatively calm. Swimming, sunbathing. |
| 12:00-15:00 | Lunch, drinks, music starting to play. |
| 15:00-17:00 | DJs start. Energy builds. Champagne spraying begins. |
| 17:00-20:00 | Peak afternoon party. Loud music, dancing on sand, full crowd. |
| 20:00-23:00 | Beach party winds down. Some clubs continue. Dinner break. |
| 23:00+ | Nearby clubs (Cavo Paradiso on the clifftop) take over for the late-night crowd. |
The daytime party is the main event at Paradise Beach itself. For late-night clubbing, the crowd migrates to Cavo Paradiso -- a clifftop club above Paradise Beach that's famous for sunrise DJ sets. It opens around 02:00 and runs until dawn.
If you're not a party person, Paradise Beach before noon is a genuinely pleasant swim. The water is clear, the sand is good, and the DJs haven't started yet. But staying past 15:00 means committing to the atmosphere.
Who Is It For?

Paradise Beach is best for: - 18-30 year olds who want a beach party - Groups of friends - People who enjoy loud music, DJ culture, and a social atmosphere - First-time Mykonos visitors who want to experience the famous scene
Paradise Beach is not for: - Families with children - People who want quiet - People who dislike loud music - Budget travellers (drinks and sunbeds add up)

When Should You Visit?
July-August for the full party experience. Every operator is running at maximum capacity, the biggest DJs play, and the energy is at its peak.
June and September for a toned-down version. The beach is open, the clubs operate, but the crowd is smaller and the atmosphere is more relaxed.
Morning (before 12:00) if you want to swim at Paradise without the party. The beach is calm, the water is beautiful, and you can leave before the music starts.
What Should You Know?
- It starts late. The real party begins around 15:00-16:00. Arriving at 10:00 gives you a quiet beach morning first.
- Sunbed prices vary. Shop around or use the free section. No one can stop you laying a towel on the public sand.
- Drink prices are high. Cocktails 12-18+ EUR, beer 6-10 EUR. Pre-load if budget matters.
- The bus runs late in summer. In July-August, evening buses serve Paradise Beach, solving the transport-home problem.
- Keep valuables secure. Crowded party beaches are where phones and wallets disappear.
- The walk to Super Paradise takes about 15-20 minutes along a coastal path if you want to compare the two party beaches in one day.
- Tropicana is the main venue. If you want the quintessential Paradise Beach experience, that's where to plant yourself.
- Cavo Paradiso is the after-party. If the beach party isn't enough, the clifftop club continues until sunrise with international-calibre DJs.
