There are two Super Paradises. Before about 16:00, it's a genuinely beautiful beach with turquoise water, soft sand, and enough space to relax. After 16:00, the DJs start, the music goes up, and it becomes one of the most well-known beach parties in Europe. You can come for either version or both -- but it helps to know what you're walking into.

The beach earned its name by being one cove east of the already-famous Paradise Beach, and the "super" was originally ironic -- it was the nudist, anything-goes alternative. These days it's thoroughly commercialised and clothing is standard, but the atmosphere is still more uninhibited than most beaches on the island.

How Do You Get There?

Detail Info
Location South coast, about 6 km from Mykonos Town
Shuttle bus Private minibus from Fabrika bus terminal, ~20 EUR return
By car/ATV Paved road, parking available
By water taxi Boats run from Platis Gialos to the south coast beaches
By KTEL bus Public bus to Platis Gialos, then water taxi

The shuttle bus is the easiest option if you don't have your own transport. It runs from the Fabrika bus terminal (the old port station in Mykonos Town) to the beach and back. Check departure times with the beach club -- they change seasonally.

By car or ATV: There's a road down to the beach with parking. The road used to be the only access, before the shuttle made it easier. It's narrow and winding but manageable.

By water taxi: From Platis Gialos, small boats hop between the south coast beaches (Platis Gialos, Paraga, Paradise, Super Paradise). It's a scenic approach and drops you right at the beach.

What's the Beach Like?

The beach itself is a sheltered cove facing south, protected from the Meltemi wind by the headlands on either side. The water is clear, turquoise, and calm -- some of the cleanest on the island. The sand is golden and fine.

Feature Detail
Sand Golden, fine
Water Crystal-clear turquoise, calm (sheltered cove)
Sunbeds Multiple rows, bookable in advance
Facilities Beach bar, food service to sunbeds, showers, music
Vibe (morning) Relaxed, swimming, sunbathing
Vibe (afternoon) DJ-driven party from ~16:00

Sunbeds

The beach is organised in rows of sunbeds, with pricing that varies by position -- front row costs more, back rows are cheaper. Expect to pay from around 25 EUR per person for a sunbed, with front-row and VIP options running significantly higher.

You can pre-book sunbeds through the beach club's website or via platforms like Viator and GetYourGuide. In peak season (July-August), booking ahead is advisable for front-row spots.

If you don't want to pay for a sunbed, there's usually some free space at the edges of the beach where you can lay a towel. But the organised section is where the atmosphere and service are.

Food and Drink

The beach bar serves cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits directly to your sunbed. Food options include club-style menus -- salads, grilled items, sushi, and snacks. Prices are Mykonos-level, which means high. Budget 15-20 EUR for a cocktail, 20-30 EUR for a meal.

The Party

From around 16:00, the DJs start and the music ramps up -- house, dance, remixes of 80s/90s hits, and whatever's trending. The beach transforms from a swimming spot into a dance floor. People stand on sunbeds, drinks flow, and the energy builds through the afternoon into early evening.

The party crowd skews younger and international. It's not exclusive in the velvet-rope sense, but it is expensive in the "20-euro-cocktail" sense. Live acts (bands, performers) sometimes feature alongside the DJs.

If the party scene isn't your thing, come in the morning and leave by mid-afternoon. The beach is at its most beautiful and most peaceful before the music starts.

Super Paradise vs Paradise Beach

The two are often compared:

Feature Super Paradise Paradise Beach
Distance from town ~6 km ~5 km
Party vibe Builds from 16:00, DJ-driven Starts earlier, continuous party
Crowd More upscale, international mix Younger, backpacker-friendly
Beach quality Excellent -- clear water, golden sand Good but more crowded
Prices Higher Slightly lower
LGBTQ+ friendly Yes (historically, both) Yes
Nudism Less common now Less common now

In short: Super Paradise is the slightly more polished version. Paradise Beach is the slightly more accessible version. Both are party beaches. If you want a quiet swim, neither is ideal after mid-afternoon -- look at Elia or Agrari instead.

How Long Should You Spend?

Plan Time
Quick swim + lunch 2-3 hours (morning)
Beach day + party 4-6 hours (arrive late morning, leave early evening)
Full experience Morning swim, lunch, party, leave at sunset

A typical visit is about 4 hours. Many people arrive mid-morning, swim, eat, watch the party start, stay for a couple of hours of music, and then head back to town for dinner.

What Should You Know Before Going?

  • Book sunbeds in advance during July-August. The popular front rows sell out.
  • Bring cash as backup. Most places take cards, but some smaller services may not.
  • The sand gets extremely hot in direct sun. Bring flip-flops or water shoes for the walk from your sunbed to the water.
  • The shuttle bus times are fixed. If you miss the last return shuttle, you'll need a taxi (expensive from the south coast) or to arrange alternative transport.
  • It's loud after 16:00. If you're looking for a peaceful afternoon, this is not the place. The music is the point.
  • Sunscreen is essential. You'll be in direct sun for hours. Reapply frequently, especially after swimming.
  • Water quality is excellent. The sheltered cove means the water is typically calm and clear regardless of wind conditions elsewhere on the island.
  • Prices reflect the Mykonos premium. Everything costs more here than on most Greek islands. Budget accordingly.

When Is the Best Time to Visit?

June and September -- Good weather, full beach club operation, but the crowds are thinner than peak summer. Better chance of getting a good sunbed without booking.

July-August -- Full intensity. Biggest parties, biggest crowds, highest prices. The peak experience if that's what you want.

May and October -- The beach club may operate reduced hours or not at all. The beach itself is still there and still beautiful for swimming, just without the infrastructure.
